Event Details

Moderator:
Bryce Ackerman, Workforce Management Leader, Roche

Abstract:
New Supervisors are often clueless when it comes to leading people, and our training and development is often outdated and nothing more than a ‘checking the box’ policy. Through entertaining, sad, and motivating stories, this session will focus on ways that we can better prepare our next generation of leaders. We’ll break the cycle of past onboarding processes and focus on three areas that will turn new supervisors into leaders who everyone wants to work for.

Bio:
Though Bryce Ackerman was a Communications major in college, he soon realized that analyzing data was more enjoyable than writing press releases or talking about his feelings. In an ironic twist, Bryce has now welcomed the power of feeling and tries to incorporate storytelling in everything he does. He’s spent the last 20+ years getting promoted, getting laid off, working for uninspiring leaders, working for amazing leaders, failing to gain the trust of Operations, completely gaining the trust of Operations, but always learning from and loving the challenges and fun that is Workforce Management. Outside of work Bryce is a big reader (typically books with an old, dead person on the cover) and self-proclaimed “Hilton Hiker.”
